A Strong Hardware with A Unique Back
As I start the review of the phone, I honestly have to admit that the first impression of the look of the phone is simply awesome. Among other Chinese companies, this one has left no stone unturned to provide the sleek and elegant touch to the phone, along with the unique styling of the back of the phone, which is exclusive compared to the other phones available in the market.
This brand has been producing its own hardware identity since 2017, and Mate 30 Pro is another continuation of this policy. The Huawei design is all about the giant centre-placed camera along with a shiny, shimmery glam finish. I honestly loved the overall look of the phone and feel this will turn
out to be one of the best-looking gadgets of 2020.
The 6.53-inch OLED screen comes with a curve that arcs on both sides of the phone. The phone also has a unique feature of palm rejection, which means you can relax about the accidental triggering of unwanted touches on the sides of the phone form just holding it.
On the whole, I love the overall design and look of the phone as it looks sleek and elegant. It also slims down a little bit to provide an easier grip to the user, which is also a positive attribute of the build of the phone.
Highlights of Huawei Mate 30 Pro
Other than its superb build and design, let us take a look at the main highlights of the phone
Resolution
The company provides a resolution of 1176 X 2400 pixels, which is quite sharp and comes with a fingerprint sensor that is built underneath the screen for one-tap unlock. The phone also offers a full 3D facial scanning, which works excellent.
However, I don’t understand the need for this feature when the phone already has a steady in-display fingerprint scanner. However, the phone does provide us the option to hide this notch efficiently.
Camera
The smartphone comes with four main cameras on its backside. 40-megapixel f/1.6 RYYB lens happens to be the primary lens of the phone, which performs well in low-light situations. The custom-built RYYB sensor breaks from the traditional features of the digital camera, which always
have used the RYB sensor.
Although the camera works brilliantly in low light, yet it needs some advancement as the photos tend to appear too bright. You also get an 8- megapixel ultra-wide angle lens along with a 3D sensor, which helps in providing the depth perception to the images. Although this one has lesser zoom capability, the ultra-wide-angle capacity is much more functional than the zoom feature.
Another weak point comes as you move towards video stabilization in the case of Huawei phones.
However, you get to enjoy good stabilized videos both during the night and the day with this phone. However, improvements are needed in this sector of the phone.
Software
Most people are quite accustomed to using the apps and features of google in their android smartphones. However, when I first heard about the Google ban along with this phone, I was slightly disheartened. But it isn’t the case anymore as android is free and open, hence anyone is free to use the software. But yes, you won’t be able to use Google Mobile Services on this smartphone.
With the latest Android version along with the EMUI software, the phone runs pretty smoothly. This software helps to create a partition of the hard drive into different sections. The full dark mode and the gesture navigation of the system are also well implemented.
Battery
Huawei phones have always been equipped with long-lasting and robust battery backups. This one comes with a 4500 mAh battery, which lasts till two days of moderate usage.
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Sturdily built with a luxurious and eye-catching design | Absence of the Google play store and google apps |
In terms of performance, it justifies all its claims | Uncertainty in security prospects |
A powerful and versatile camera | Slightly on the costlier side |
Quite an impressive camera work even in low light | |
Great charging features and steady battery life |
So, as a whole, if you aren’t much of a Google apps user and a camera addict, then Huawei Mate 30 Pro is the ultimate phone for investment. The elegant build, strong battery backup, and the impressive camera features make this smartphone a power gadget of 2020.
