Canon EOS Rebel T6

The camera is, no doubt, an incredible gadget that allows us to capture every moment of our lives forever. With the advancement of technology and modern science, we have seen a massive change in the build and function of the camera over the past few decades. One such gadget which is worth a try is the new Canon EOS Rebel T6.

The smart gadget is an entry-level DSLR that is targeted towards first-time ILC users and smartphone upgraders. Comes with an 18MP APS-C sensor, the camera offers Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC to the user. This eases the troubles for photo sharing when you are out to another location. It also adds a faster processor in comparison to the predecessor, the Rebel T5.

The camera also offers a 9-point AF module, built-in Wi-Fi with NFC, and 1080/30p video. The battery life of the gadget is pretty decent and goes till 500 shots per charge, which puts the device in competition with some of the top ones in the business.

So, as a whole, the company has gathered up different components in this aggressively priced bundle. But the question lies here, is it worth it to invest in this $549.00 camera? To find out the answer, read along with my detailed review about this camera here.

Detailed Review of Canon EOS Rebel T6

As per the critical features of the camera, it might seem like a good shot for the photographers. However, let me provide you with the detailed review of a few aspects of this camera before concluding the final verdict for this gadget

Handling

The company keeps it simple in this gadget, and the built is mainly of plastic. Considered from the entry-level point of view, I would say it is quite easy to carry this one on the shoulder or a side pocket. However, I never like to take chances with my gadgets and hence, would suggest maintaining proper packaging to avoid any accidents.

The gadget also offers a real and live optical viewfinder for the image composition. It works just fine but falls short on the 100 % view, which might be a little distracting for people looking for minute details in their shots. The autofocus of this camera is comparatively slow, and sadly, the camera’s interface is also not well optimized. In certain situations, you might even find the battery to be draining out quite fast.

Autofocus

The Canon EOS Rebel T6 provides a 9-point AF system, which is quite old for today’s market. Hence it predictably slows down in the low light situations. The camera has a single press button, which limits the AF coverage of the camera. However, given the price range, it is quite handy for the beginners

Quality of The Images

Although it is not a professional gadget, yet I loved shooting the pictures with this one. In proper lighting, the device does a good job of taking lovely photos seamlessly. The colours are pleasant, albeit with an inclination towards over-saturation that might look heavy-handed. Although the detail rendering is not at its best but does a decent job with moderate exposures.

Wi-Fi Connectivity

The product offers Wi-Fi connectivity, which allows the user to transfer the images to smartphones and other gadgets quickly. You can use it through the Canon Camera Connect app, which is available for both iOS and Android users. The initial set-up might take a few minutes, but once set, you no longer have to waste any time over the connectivity

Video

1080/30p is the resolution of the videos taken by this camera. Just like the image quality, the detailing isn’t a significant aspect of this camera. However, the colours look beautiful and pleasant.  You might require some time for the focus to work correctly. You also get manual exposure options for shooting video as well as images. You also get three viewing sizes

  • Full
  • Print
  • Comp

You can adjust the resolution as per these options with this camera for videos and the photos. However, this gadget falls slightly short on the noise reduction aspect. But the camera allows the capturer to change the sharpness and the colour of the images and videos to a considerable extent. As a result, the camera performs fine in capturing some best shots in proper lighting.

Out of 5 stars, I would provide these following scores to the different aspects of T6:

  • Build quality= 3/5
  • Ergonomics & handling = 3.5/5
  • Features = 3/5
  • Metering & focus accuracy= 4/5
  • Image quality (raw) = 3.5/5

  • Viewfinder / screen rating = 3/5
  • Performance = 3.5/5
  • Movie / video mode= 2.5/5
  • Connectivity = 3/5
  • Value = 3.5/5

Thus, I can conclude that, from a professional point of view, you can get more variants in this price range. However, if you are a beginner in the field of photography, then Canon EOS Rebel T6 is ideal for providing you with the best hands-on experience. The price is reasonable, given the different features available on the camera. So, if you are one of the JPEG shooters or a bargain hunter, go for this product
